Laura James Jewelry Has Moved Online!

What? Laura James Jewelry has Moved?!

Yes, it's true! After operating my storefront for 7 glorious years on East Boulevard in Historic Dilworth, I decided the time was Perfect.

  • Perfect for utilizing my years of experience in reworking jewelry for other people...by up-fitting my own handmade business I founded back in 2005

  • Perfect for embracing this incredibly fast-paced online shopping world... by jumping right on that digital train.

  • Perfect for getting the extra time to spend actually designing and crafting...the very heart of the reason I began Laura James Jewelry 11 years ago.

  • Perfect for additional time to offer specials, giveaways and more to you guys...the very reason I have been able to have this business all of these years.

  • Perfect for making shopping Laura James Jewelry as easy as Amazon...FREE Shipping and fast turnaround. :)

There are so many other reasons this decision is perfect for me that I could list, but I don't have enough space on this page!

What will be the hardest part? Missing the daily interaction from you. So many of you have become extended family to me, and I assure you that I am not going anywhere. I am actually going to be much more accessible and you will likely see even more of me!

How? I will be all around! Physically and Online. Pop Up Shops, Trunk Shows (let me know if you'd like to be added to the list to host!), Holiday Events, you name it. Online I'll be selling right from this website as well as Facebook and Instagram.

AND the possibility of another studio space open for such events if I find just the right fit...

So, please stay tuned, and make sure to get on our Email List http://bit.ly/1t7BQa2 where you can be notified first where I am popping up next...not to mention all of the fabulous deals and steals I have planned for you!

Thank You for growing with me...

I can't wait to see what's around the corner for us!

2016 Jewelry Trends from Cannes!
Jewelry Trends at Cannes from the Laura James Jewelry Blog

Who else is a fanatic for Independent films? I'll take their artistic, raw beauty over big-budget movies, any day! I am equally psyched when the‪ #‎Cannes‬ Film Fest rolls around each year, and that's exactly what started this past week in France. Here are a few deets (and looks!) from the Festival so far...

Let me tell ya, (trend alert!) long dangle Earrings absolutely ruled the Red Carpet so far. It was hard to find photos of anything but, however, here is a good little mix from the Festival...

#‎JessicaChastain‬ looks incredible in this yellow number, and her diamond choker collar necklace (in the palm design that Cannes is famous for) isn't too shabby, either!

‪#‎BlakeLively‬ was swirling ALL over the carpet in a Cinderella-esque dress by Vivienne Westwood, but these diamond dangles are what stole the show not to mention her bump... PS: she's pregnant again!

‪#‎AmalClooney‬ had on the most fabulous Cartier Coral dangles...
and I absolutely loved the sublime ‪#‎JulietBinoche‬ in this edgier look, topped off with a cool sapphire pendant necklace.

That's a wrap for now, and I hope you enjoyed this recap of my fave looks so far in Jewelry from the 2016 Cannes Film Festival awards!

Jewelry Summer Safety Tip

Summer Jewelry Tips

*Too much Pool time is not a great idea for your Gold*

CHLORINE can weaken 14k and 18k gold over time, so just watch the amount of time your jewels are exposed or submerged, especially if you have a prong-set ring. Why? If the prongs get weak, your stones could fall out!

It's a smart idea to have your prongs checked by your jeweler to make sure they are still strong if you have worn your jewelry in the pool for a significant amount of time in the past.

Let's all avoid a Summer Bummer!

Three Summer Jewelry Trends You Need to Know About!
Three Must Have Summer Jewelry Trends for 2016

Cheers, everyone! Summer 2016 will be here before we know it!

For those who want to know what to rock from the Pool to the Party, these top three jewelry trends should keep us all on point. Check out Style360's top three "Defining trends for 2016"...

Trend No. 1: Keep it casual

With the importance of athleisure in Americans’ wardrobes, jewelry selections have become a lot more casual. Why? When you’re wearing yoga pants and a T-shirt, big diamond jewels could look a bit out of place. Consider Kate Hudson’s new line of athleisure clothing dubbed Fabletics, and last week Royersford, Pa.–based jeweler Cathy Calhoun told me that many of her clients “don’t dress up as much.” The appropriate jewelry to wear? Think stackable bands with small stones and a smaller profile, wearables such as Fitbits or a sporty watch, or even charms, cabochon-cut gemstones, and signet rings.

Trend No. 2: Boho chic

We can thank all the 1960s- and 1970s-inspired attire on fashion runways in recent years for the plethora of fringe, feathers, beads, and turquoise motifs that followed. Plus, the annual music fair Coachella (happening now), with its earthy vibe and setting in Indio, Calif., has become such a scene that many celebrities are now paid by brands to attend. Boho-chic jewelry includes silver and turquoise, feathers, and long beads or necklaces.

Trend No. 3: Chokers and collar necklaces

Thanks to recent red carpet looks and runways shows in which designers dressed models in myriad necklaces, the style has finally gotten some major attention. Jewelry designers have responded accordingly with lots of new offerings aiming to adorn the neckline—which is fun for jewelry lovers to embrace after years of big cuffs and dangling earrings.

Enjoy and Happy Summer!

Mood Board Magic

My Mood Board of the Week: Beach Inspired Jewelry

Mood Board Inspiration for Summer 2016 from Laura James Jewelry.

There's nothing better than a Mood Board to record any jewelry design inspiration that comes my way! When the design inspiration hits me, it's like GOLD, so I have learned over the years to document, document, document it- otherwise, it will vanish (an a-ha moment gone in a matter of minutes...there's nothing worse!) So, after getting the thoughts and ideas down on paper, the next the best thing for me to do is to transfer it to a Mood Board.

The Mood Board reflects the colors that I want to use in my next Laura James Jewelry collection...and is in plain sight in my studio workspace. I know how important these are for my creative process and execution, and this one was especially fun to put together because the colors make me think of my most relaxing happy place...the Beach!

I can't wait to see what comes from these strands of stones...I love the juxtaposition of the sparkly pyrite with organic, vintage glass. Stay tuned!
